Architect’s Dream

How Katie combined solar, underfloor heating, and a Mitsubishi air source heat pump to create a low-cost, sustainable new build home
Wareham
2- Bedroom New Build
Future-Proof, Energy-Efficient Living

Project Overview

Father-and-daughter architects were designing a brand-new two-bedroom home in Wareham, Dorset, for Katie. Their goal was clear: to build a property that was as efficient and sustainable as possible. After exploring the options, Katie chose to pair a 6kW Mitsubishi air source heat pump with solar PV panels and underfloor heating (UFH).

Together, these technologies create a perfect match:
Underfloor heating runs at lower water temperatures, making it the ideal partner for a heat pump.
Solar panels generate renewable electricity, which can power the heat pump, lowering
running costs even further.
Combined, they deliver year-round comfort with minimal reliance on the grid.

We worked closely with Katie and her father on the site plans to find the perfect placement for the air source unit and hot water cylinder. With support from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, we secured £7,500 towards the installation, and we also registered the manufacturer’s warranty—covering the system for up to 7 years.

Katie has since moved into her new home and is delighted with the results. Our team will continue to service the system annually, ensuring it keeps providing efficient heating and hot water for years to come.
